The Faces Of Our Team
It’s good to know who’s working for you
Leon Heetebrij
Leon enjoys building with his hands and working outside. He saw a void in the construction industry that needed to be filled, so he started Griffin Decking.
His goal? To offer everything a person would need to get their deck built right – without having to go to multiple different companies.
When he’s not building or repairing decks, Leon’s mountain biking, playing hockey, and spending time with his wife and 4 kids.
David Sluys
David enjoys being able to offer his quality workmanship through his work with Griffin Decking, especially when someone asks for repairs – seeing a poorly built deck and coming up with solutions is his strength.
When he’s not solving deck problems and helping construct entirely new vinyl decks, David’s travelling the world, hiking, and spending as much time as possible outdoors.
Your Vinyl Deck-Care Checklist
Keep your deck in the best shape by doing the following:
- Keep it clean – although vinyl decking is very low maintenance, it is a good idea to occasionally wash and sweep it. Make sure to use a good deck cleaner that is meant to keep your deck material in the best of shape. It’s best to use a stiff broom and to scrub in a circular motion. Don’t let leaves pile up and sit on your deck – when they rot, they stain your vinyl!
- If you are going to use a pressure washer, make sure it’s set on a low PSI – having too much pressure can ruin your vinyl by tearing it. We suggest you use a pressure washer with no more than 1500 psi. Be sure to rinse at least 12 inches from the surface.
- Annual inspection – Your deck is an investment! It’s in your best interest to do a thorough study of your deck 1x a year. When you slide furniture or BBQ’s around, you can slice up your vinyl and make it susceptible to rot. Repair the cuts as early as possible!
When using deck cleaner, always follow the manufacturer’s instructions!
